Privacy Policy - Smart AI CCTV
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 7, 2026
Our Core Privacy Commitment: Smart AI CCTV is designed as a strictly local, 100% offline security tool. We do not own servers, we do not collect your personal data, and we do not transmit your video feeds or images over the public internet. All Artificial Intelligence processing happens directly on your device's hardware.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
To provide its core functionality as a continuous security monitor, the App requires specific hardware permissions and utilizes unique user interface behaviors. We do not harvest or transmit the data generated by these permissions to any external third-party servers.
A. Camera Access & Image Processing
- Purpose: The App requires access to your device's camera to capture live video frames. These frames are fed into our advanced, on-device Artificial Intelligence engine for real-time human detection.
- User Controls: You can adjust the "AI Detection Sensitivity" and "Recording Delay" within the App settings to fit your environment. The video frames are processed in volatile memory (RAM) and are immediately discarded after analysis unless a human intrusion is detected and you have explicitly enabled the "Record Evidence" feature.
B. Local Storage (Evidence Recording)
- Purpose: If you enable the "Record Evidence" toggle, the App will save snapshot images of detected intrusions directly to your device's local MediaStore (Gallery).
- Smart Auto-Clean: To prevent the App from exhausting your device's storage, we utilize a local auto-clean feature. Once the user-defined maximum limit is reached, the App automatically deletes the oldest alert images from your local folder. We do not back up these images to any cloud service.
C. Background Operations & Battery Saver Mode
- Foreground Service: To allow the camera to monitor your premises continuously, Android requires a Foreground Service. This triggers a persistent notification, ensuring you are always aware when the camera is active.
- Battery Saver Mode (Screen Dimming): To conserve energy and prevent device overheating during prolonged monitoring, the App includes a manual "Battery Saver Mode". When activated, the screen is intentionally blacked out, and a partial Wake Lock keeps the CPU running the security analysis. This is a transparent, user-initiated feature, not a deceptive background behavior. Users can wake the screen and exit this mode at any time by simply triple-tapping the screen.
2. Local Network Streaming (HTTP)
The App includes a feature to broadcast the live video feed to other devices via an HTTP stream. This stream is strictly confined to your Local Area Network (LAN / WiFi) and is not routed through the public internet. Furthermore, you have full control to disable this broadcast entirely by turning off the "Remote Feed" toggle in the App's settings, which immediately shuts down the local server port for maximum privacy.
3. Local Processing Frameworks
The App utilizes standard, locally-executed computer vision frameworks solely for on-device mathematical computations and image processing. These frameworks operate entirely offline, do not collect telemetry, and do not transmit usage data to any external servers or developers.
4. Data Security
Because the App operates 100% offline, the security of your data relies entirely on the physical security of your device and the password protection of your local WiFi network. We highly recommend keeping your device locked with a PIN or biometric security and using a strong WPA2/WPA3 password for your home network.
5. User Control and Consent Revocation
You retain complete authority over your privacy. At any time, you can tap the "Device Permissions" option within the App's side menu. This shortcut instantly redirects you to your Android device's native system settings, allowing you to review, grant, or revoke permissions (such as Camera or Notifications) at your discretion. If you revoke core permissions, the App will safely pause its monitoring functions until access is explicitly restored by you.
6. Children's Privacy
Our App does not transmit data over the internet, and therefore we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. All data remains on the device. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided the App with personal data locally, you can easily delete the App and its associated local folders from the device.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
